Desi Junction’s Awards night and Holidays party, 2005.

 Whenever Desi Junction has had the desire for all communities to exemplify unity and harmony they have always gotten an overwhelming response.  November 6 ,2005, was one of those occasions, upon which Desi Junction’s invitation to all the communities  resulted in a sparkling gathering  to celebrate Diwali, Eid and Thanksgiving.  The beginning of the holiday season was the most appropriate time to thank and honor their sponsors, as well as well wishers. Scores of listeners availed this opportunity to spend time with the members of their favorite radio show.

As guests were walking in, they were greeted by smiling faces of the whole Desi Junction’s team.  As listeners and the hosts of the radio show were matching the voices to the faces, the ambiance was full with mutual admiration.  There were laughter and joyous conversations everywhere.  Listeners were complimenting the various previous segments of the radio shows; the team members were expressing their gratitude to the faithful listeners for their dedication and their valuable suggestions and ideas to take the shows to next level of excellence.

The events of the evening began with Sonia’s welcome note. The guest of honor S. Major Singh Mauji (Deputy Mayor of Garh Shanker) inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the traditional Diya ,  a lamp for peace and harmony. The senior representatives of all beliefs (Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christen) were invited to light a candle of peace. One minute silence was observed in the memories of the victims of Tsunami, earthquake and bomb blasts. The evening delightfully continued with entertainment prepared by enthusiastic participants, as dances by Natasha Verma & Monika Kataria, song by Shirkant and musical video clip by Sunny Singh were just a few of the wonderful items which brought smiles all around.  Jassi, Happy, Bobby and other team members took their turns to honor the volunteers and the listeners.  Desi Junction team honored the radio show sponsors Mr. & Mrs. Jaidev Bhatthal, Mr. & Mrs. Salwan, Mr. & Mrs. Harjinder Sandhu, Mr. & Mrs. Raj Judge, Mr. & Mrs. Bhamra, Sajnee, India House, Viceroy of India, Haveli Restaurant, Mrs. & Dr. Tariq Ahmed, B&G Mufflers & Brakes, American Star Realty, Pepper and Salt Restaurant. .These sponsors were called on the stage to accept the honor bestowed upon them for their unconditional, absolute support of our four years old Radio show.

The listener’s choice award for the most popular South Asian publication was given to “INDIAN REPORTER” Mr. Jatinder S. Bedi received that award.

The Punjabi Junction team delighted the guests with the small glimpse of the live radio show.  Happy , Dara and Billa Chawala  with Bhaiya ji on stage, were the memorable moments of the evening.

“Congratulations!!! to the team organizing the Desi Junction Programs. It was a stunning demonstration of consolidation of Indian Culture in the Chicago area.  Desi Junction's presentation was professional, appealing to all; young old, Indians and Pakistanis, Hindu, Sikh and Islamic and others, etc. .  It was a celebration where one could bring his or her family including children and people kept retraint.  We were sitting with our very close friends Marwahs and Bindras and Virdis.  Jassi Parmar was sensational, sweet, professional, and cordial and always happy in his presentations.
