Little Miss American Desi Pageant

RULES FOR THE KIDS (4-12)

ALL Participants must attend a Rehearsal on Friday Aug20th at Jain Centre at 8:00 PM.

TOTAL ROUNDS - 2

1. Overall Appearance Round

a- Contestant will come to the stage, walk make a turn and exit the stage.

b- Dress Code: Contestant can wear either Indian or American outfit.

c- In this round they will be judged on their overall look, energy, and their ease on stage

2. Talent & Question-Answer Round

  • Any talent they want to show - dance, song, act, instrument.(Duration: up to 1 min)
  • Dress code: optional, and suitable to their talent
  • In this round they will be judged on their talent, performance, presentation, and energy.
  •  The Q&A Round will follow the Talent Round. Only top 5 contestants will move to this round.
  • No Dress Change Required for the Q&A round.
  • One simple question will be asked and points will be given on-spontaneity and confidence while speaking.

 


Miss American Desi Pageant

(Age 16 to 29)

ALL Participants must attend a Rehearsal on Friday Aug20th at Jain Centre at 8:00 PM.

ROUND-1:  INTRODUCTIONS - (Indian Traditional Wear)

ROUND-2:  TALENT ROUND (Dress code: Your Own Choice)

ROUND-3:  QUESTION & ANSWERS (Formal Evening Wear)

 

ROUND-1:  Introduction - (Indian Traditional Wear)

  • The contestant will cover the stage twice.
  • The contestant will give self introduction. (Max < 1 min)


Judging:

a.       Contestant’s ability to carry out a "total look".

b.        Attractiveness-with self-confidence, eye appeal

c.         Posture: How a Contestant carries herself is very important.

d.       Self-confidence and poise, how they introduce themselves.

e.        Fashion Sense: Contestants should pick outfits that reflect style and tasteful clothing.  Judges will be paying particular attention to Contestant's ability to use colors to enhance their look.

 

ROUND 2: TALENT ROUND - (Dress Code of Your Choice)

Every contestant will get 2 minutes to show their talent on the stage.  

It can be any form of talent.    

 

Judging criteria for the Talent round will be the following:

a.       Creativity

b.      Originality

c.       Performance

 

ROUND-3:  QUESTION & ANSWERS (Dress Code- Formal Evening Wear)

Each contestant will be given one question to answer in this round. This round will be played only with the finalists. The judges will evaluate the contestant’s responses on the following criteria:

1.   Intelligence and common sense.

2.   Conversational ability.

3.  Sense of humor.

4.   Confidence, high moral standards, sincerity, and integrity.

 


 

This year's pageant will be held on Saturday, August 21st , during the Annual Heritage India Festival in Bartlett IL.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR THE PAGEANT

 

  1. To be eligible in this Pageant each individual must be registered and paid the registration fee of $25.
  2.  Contestant cannot wear gym shoes, jeans, shorts. (Unless it is related to any act).
  3. Additional questions may be asked as a tie-breaker.
  4. We Love Natural Beauty!  We believe in teaching children that they are beautiful inside and out- their innocence is beyond any physical beauty.
  5. The purpose of our pageant is to improve social skills, increase confidence, build self esteem and most importantly have fun!
  6. The applicant may be required to produce their proof of age (Passport, birth certificate, school leaving certificate, driver's license, etc).
  7. The applicants should be of South Asian origin.
  8.  The organizers are not responsible for any loss or physical injury that occurs to the applicant on account of their participation in the event. The applicant will participate at her own risk and can have no claim against Desi Junction in any regard.
  9. The schedule of events and qualification rounds are subject to change at the discretion of the organizers.
  10. In the event of any dispute, the judge’s decisions are final and binding on the applicants.
